Silence and non-response to deceitful and glaring lies, have often been misconstrued as acceptance of such lies and baseless fabrications.
In recent times, a certain Niyi Busari and his guerilla online publication have been publishing lies and punching the buttons to start a non-existent crisis in the Nigeria Basketball family and cause wanton acrimony among the board members of the NBBF.
The past silence by the NBBF to his several miscalculated attempts to discredit the Musa Kida led NBBF board, seem to have emboldened his unpatriotic resolve to play the devil’s advocate against the impressive strides of the present NBBF.
Coming quickly after the failed attempts of Niyi Busari and his unpopular publication to turn the national cadet basketball players of Nigeria against the board with unfounded allegations of inadequate welfare support for the U16 players, he has turned up again to accuse the NBBF, of plans to take D’Tigers to AfroCon tournament in Cote D’Ivoire by road.
In its reaction, the NBBF revealed that it has planned for D’Tigers to travel to Abidjan by air, which has always been its agelong tradition to take the welfare of the players of the various national teams paramount.
Foremost sport stakeholder and basketball enthusiast, Chief Dipreiye Thompson, remarked that Niyi Busari’s recent unpatriotic actions against the leadership and activities of the NBBF, further accentuates the misguided and selfish agendas of the enemies of the leadership of Nigeria Basketball Federation.
“It has been become clear in recent times, to the genuine lovers of sports development in Nigeria, that the unpatriotic and mindlessly sponsored actions of Niyi Busari, is akin to dealings of a notorious blackmailer, who would rather betray his heritage for a pot of porridge,” the fiery sports activist noted.
He went on to warn the infamous journalist against pressing a self-destruct button. Adding that it would only lead him to problems, as he is gradually acquiring the status of a notorious blackmailer.
“Let me warn him that on behalf of myself and other well-meaning stakeholders in Nigerian sports, we take him to the law courts, if if doesn’t desist from his unpatriotic and unethical actions,” Chief Thompson warned.
