The Spires 5-Aside Naija Street Soccer Tournament was greeted with excitement by residents of Ajegunle and its environs as the 2025 divisional qualifiers took center stage at Hon. Lukmon Olumoh’s Sports Arena, in Awodi-Ora on Saturday, July 5th.

The Badagry division became the next point of call for the most structured 5-Aside tournament in the continent following its successful hosting in Ikeja, Ikorodu, and Epe divisions.

With three slots at stake for the state championship, the top four teams are set for an intense face-off on Wednesday, 9th July. Chekas United will square up against Joint FC, while Emaljus football club will lock-horns against All Saints FC in the second match by 1:00 PM.

The first round of fixtures produced high scoring results. Chekas Utd annihilated Akins United 8-2. Emaljus FC defeated Micro Giant 9-3. All Saints FC secured 11-6 victory over Olhan FA, while Joint FC were 5-0 winners in their fixture against Favour Galaxy FA.

Justin Hezekiah of Chekas Utd tops the scorers chart with 7 goals. The forward said he hopes to sustain his form beyond the divisional stages of the tournament.

” I am very confident in my goal scoring abilities, the trajectory for me is to help my team secure a ticket for the state championship and also finish as the top scorer in the Badagry divisional qualifiers”. Justin said.

The champion of the Badagry division will receive the sum of N500,000, while the first and second runners up will pocket N300,000 and N100,000, respectively.

Sixteen teams across the five divisions in Lagos will compete in the Spires 5-Aside Naija Street Soccer Tournament state championship later in the year.
