    Samuel Ikpefan Leads Nigeria’s Charge at 2026 Winter Olympics

    Nigeria is set to make its mark at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina, Italy, with Samuel Ikpefan as one of its representatives.

    Samuel Ikpefan made history as Nigeria’s first athlete to compete in two consecutive Winter Olympics, he proudly carried the nation’s flag at the 2026 Milano Cortina Games opening ceremony.

    This achievement marks Nigeria’s fourth consecutive Winter Olympics appearance, showcasing the country’s growing presence in winter sports.

    Ikpefan, a cross-country skier, will compete in the men’s sprint classic and 10km freestyle events, aiming to inspire young athletes from non-traditional winter sports nations.

    Born to a Nigerian father and French mother, Ikpefan’s journey is a testament to determination and resilience. He previously competed in Beijing 2022, despite the COVID-19 era,  he is now focused on delivering a strong performance.

    Ikpefan’s participation symbolizes Nigeria’s ambition in winter sports, and his story is inspiring a new generation of African athletes to pursue winter sports.

    Ikpefan is determined to inspire young athletes from non-traditional winter sports nation, promote winter sports accessibility across Africa

    The Nigerian delegation is led by NOC President,   includes coaches, medical personnel, and officials, showcasing the country’s commitment to developing winter sports.
