The build-up to the highly anticipated National Archery Open Championship organised by the Nigeria Archery Federation (NAFED) is gathering significant momentum, as several states and clubs have already confirmed their participation in the competition.
States including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lagos, and Delta are among the early registrants, alongside a number of clubs preparing to showcase their skills at the national showpiece.

President of the Nigeria Archery Federation (NAFED), Mohammed Abdullahi, disclosed that more than ten states, including military and paramilitary institutions as well as registered clubs, have so far signified their interest in competing at the championship.
Abdullahi noted that the impressive early response reflects the growing popularity and development of archery across Nigeria, as well as the commitment of stakeholders to advancing the sport at both grassroots and elite levels.

He further emphasized that registration for the championship remains open, encouraging more states, institutions, and clubs to take advantage of the opportunity to participate in what promises to be a highly competitive and rewarding tournament.
“Registration is still ongoing, and we expect more states and clubs to join the race as preparations continue for the championship,” Abdullahi stated.

The NAFED National Open Championship scheduled for April 20-26, 2026 is expected to bring together some of the country’s finest archers, providing a platform for talent discovery, competition, and the continued growth of archery in Nigeria.
