The Management of Rangers Int’l FC says the club’s Head Coach, Fidelis Ikechukwu, is still with the team and has no intention of leaving the club as the relationship between the two parties remains positive.

The former Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Champions made this known on Sunday evening, as part of efforts to clarify issues on the purported social media reports which said Coach Ikechukwu was “on the verge of quitting the Flying Antelopes amid unresolved internal issues, despite being in training all week but absent from the touchline in today’s (Sunday) home match against Niger Tornadoes.

The unsubstantiated report continued: “This comes after a run of mixed results this season and repeated public reporting of frustrations around team form and off-field problems — issues Ilechukwu has publicly had to manage before”.

“Expect clarity soon; for now the story is: “trusted Enugu sources report he may walk away, while some official channels deny it.”

However, while dismissing the development as untrue, a top source says, “Coach is around, no worries, not true. He just returned and decided to take a little rest”.

Assistant Coach, Ekeh Ekenedilichukwu, led the Flying Antelopes to beat Niger Tornadoes 1-0 in a Week 14 game decided at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium on Sunday, to move into 5th spot on the league table.
