Rangers General Manager, Barr. Amobi Ezeaku, has been recognised at the 5th Frontier Discourse Annual Public Lecture and Awards, organized by Pacesetter Frontier Magazine, which took place on Tuesday at the Nigerian National Merit Award House, Maitama, Abuja.
The Rangers Chief Executive Officer was named Sports Icon of the Year at the event which brought together leading figures from sports, media, and governance, celebrated individuals and institutions driving excellence and innovation across sectors in Nigeria.
Receiving the award, Ezeaku dedicated the recognition to Enugu state Governor, Bar. Peter Mbah, who he described as a visionary leader whose support for sports development has continued to inspire progress at Rangers and beyond.
The young football administrator also dedicated the award to his family, expressing heartfelt appreciation to his wife, Chisom, and their children for their love, understanding and encouragement throughout his journey.
In his remarks, the Rangers CEO reflected on the Ranger’s transformation and renewed energy under his leadership, noting that the recognition reaffirms the “Never Say Die” spirit that defines the club and its fans.
“This award is not about me a ne. It is about a journey—the journey of believing that sports can unite a people, inspire hope, and rebuild the soul of a community,” he said.
Ezeaku, a sports lawyer, FIFA Master, and recipient of multiple national recognitions, has led Rangers International FC through a period of remarkable resurgence—winning the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League title, securing multiple sponsorships, and strengthening youth development structures through the Rangers Foundation and Academicals.
The Sports Icon of the Year Award adds to a growing list of honors recognizing his commitment to sports administration, innovation, and leadership.
