.. As LGA Final Lands in Brass LGA
    ‎
‎Niger Delta University (NDU) Oilers are the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area ‎champions in Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football fiesta, the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament, tagged the Prosperity Cup.
    ‎
‎NDU Oilers FC thrashed Onde United of Ondewari three nil to lift the Southern Ijaw LGA trophy in an encounter decided at the NDU Sports Field at Amassoma.
    ‎
‎The University side showed intent from the blast of the referee’s whistle as they created chances to go in front but the breakthrough only came for the students when their captain, Ebinbo John tapped the ball into the net after powering past the defender to give his team the lead in the 20th minute of the game.
    ‎
‎NDU Oilers increased the tally eight minutes later from a spot kick as center back Isaiah Isaac stepped up to score after Kilete Micah was brought down in the danger zone and the centre referee wasted no time pointing to the spot.
    ‎
‎Kilete Micah wrapped up the victory for the delightful NDU side two minutes later to put the game beyond the reach of Onde United, ensuring that the students return to their classes with their heads held high having conquered the Amassoma centre in the preliminary round.
    ‎
‎NDU Oilers have now joined Okoroma United, Movers FC of Otuasega, Osunmabio FC, Kolobiriowei FC and Odi United to win their respective LGA’s.
    ‎
‎Champions, NDU Oilers received ₦1,000,000 for their triumph while runners-up Onde United got ₦500,000.
    ‎
‎Vice Captain of the victorious NDU Oilers, Isaiah Isaac attributed his team’s performance to his coach’s tactical prowess, stating that they played to the instruction of the coach.
    ‎
‎He appreciated their supporters for their solidarity throughout the encounter and promised that his team will give Southern Ijaw LGA a good representation in the Round of 32, having come tops at the LGA.
    ‎
‎The excitement will now move to Brass LGA on Saturday 18th April, 2026 at the beautiful island of Okpoama where Igoni FC of Odioma welcomes Mini FC of Minibie at 1.00pm.
