Following the successful conclusion of the 2026 edition of the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament, also known as the Prosperity Cup, organisers of the competition have concluded arrangements for the official presentation of cash prizes to all the winners.
The event is scheduled to hold at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Ovom, Yenagoa on Thursday, May 21, 2026 immediately after the Prosperity Walk.
The winners in the men’s category are:
Champions: Okoroma United FC — N40,000,000
1st runners-up: Akinima/Biogbo FC — N13,000,000
2nd runners-up: MLDM — N7,000,000
3rd runners-up: Krusaders FC — N2,000,000
Women’s category
Champions: Active Ladies — N10,000,000
1st runners-up: Afini Ladies — N5,000,000
2nd runners-up: Bayelsa Stars — N2,000,000
3rd runners-up: Ezougha Queens — N1,000,000
Para-soccer
Champions: Shedrack Para-soccer Academy — N1m
Runners-up: Bayelsa Para-soccer Club — N500,000
Individual awards (Men)
Highest Goal Scorer: Azibola Collins (Mountain of Fire Ministry) — 10 goals.
Most Valuable Player: Wisdom Omusua (Akinima Biogbo FC).
Most Outstanding Goalkeeper: Kingsley Ariri Joe (Okoroma United).
Fair Play Award: Mountain of Fire Ministry.
Individual awards (Women)
Highest Goal Scorer: Goodness Jude (Orukaribai Queens) — 8 goals.
Most Valuable Player:Ogolo Blessing (Afini Ladies).
Most Outstanding Goalkeeper: Chizaram Precious (Active Ladies).
Fair Play Award: Orukaribai Queens
Please note that the prize for the men’s champions rose up N40m as a result of a N5m addition by the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Dr Bashir Adeniyi Adewale and another N5m by one of the Guests of Honour, Senator Alli Isa.
All the individual prize winners and a maximum of two officials of each of the winning teams, dressed in their Prosperity Cup jerseys, are invited to attend the ceremony.
