Nigerian Police in Rivers State have
arrested an officer who allegedly extorted $3000 from an
Aba-based businessman after
arresting and detaining him.

It was gathered that the suspect arrested
the businessman in Aba, Abia
State, took him back to Port
Harcourt and allegedly demanded the said amount, but
when the businessman refused
to pay, the officer took the man
to Ughelli in Delta State, where
the money was finally paid.
According to a viral video posted by one Harrison
Gwamnisishu on his X handle @HarrisonBbi18, after the
businessman was transported
from Port Harcourt to Ughelli
through Bayelsa State after he
lingered in paying the money,
the policeman requested to secure his release.
Gwamnisishu revealed that
after the $3000 was transferred
into the policeman’s e-wallet
and upon payment, the businessman was driven back to
Port Harcourt and released.

Gwamnisishu said, “The police officers attached to Rivers
State Police Command left Port
Harcourt to Aba, Abia State,
arrested the man, took him to
Rivers State, Bayelsa State, and
entered Ughelli, Delta State.
“After paying $3000, they
moved him back to Port Harcourt and dumped him.

“Let it be on record that the
Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, is aware
of this kidnapping by men under his supervision.”
Responding to the development, the Public Relations
Officer for the Rivers State
Police Command, SP Grace
Iringe-Koko, in a terse message
made available to journalists
on Saturday, confirmed that
the accused officer had been
identified and arrested.
Although the state police
