Nigeria and Africa’s sole representative at the just concluded World Boxing World Cup, Patricia Mbata says getting a bronze medal for Nigeria at the global fiesta would motivate her to keep pursing her dreams of reaching the pinnacle of her boxing career.

The British born Nigerian boxer who won a Gold medal at the last All African Games in Ghana in the 75kG, fought in the 70kG category and ended with a bronze medal at the world boxing cup which was held in Kazakhstan Asanta from June 28 to 7th July 2025.Mbata got an impressive Five zero win over Poland’s Alexandra Cyrek in the quarter finals to get to the Semi finals but narrowly lost her semi final fight before going ahead to clinch the bronze medal.

The boxer, who is also a project construction manager by profession in the UK, has been on self sponsorship over the years representing the country at major international boxing championships.

Her dream she said is still to represent Nigeria at the Olympics..
