Nigeria’s participation in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris hit second gear as the country proudly showcased its green and white attire on Friday night during the Opening Ceremony. While the Super Falcons already commenced their Olympic Games campaign with a match against Brazil on Thursday, the excitement intensifies from Saturday with two table tennis players facing their opponents in the round of 64.

Olajide Omotayo will take on Noshood Alamiyan of Iran, and Aruna Quadri will face Eduard Ionescu of Romania in the men’s singles (R of 64).

The special weekend continues on Sunday with the Super Falcons set to tackle Spain, alongside boxing featuring Olaitan Olaore and table tennis with Edem Offiong in the women’s singles round of 64.

The new week starts with Nigeria’s D’Tigress facing Australia in women’s basketball, along with action in women’s boxing (Cynthia Ogunsemilore) and table tennis (Fatima Bello). The action continues all week, with more athletes taking to the grand stage.

After the opening ceremony, the Honourable Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, called on all Nigerians to support Team Nigeria to soar and win laurels for our country at the Olympics. Nigeria has 88 athletes competing in 12 different sports.
