    Paris 2024 : Ogba Extols D’Tigress For First Olympic Win

    ***As Nigeria Women Basketball Team Beat 6 Times Olympic Medalist, Opals of Australia

    .The first Vice President of Nigeria Olympic Committee ( NOC) , Dr Solomon Ogba has congratulated Nigeria’s women basketball team for their historic feat.

    D’Tigress secured first Olympic win. The Rena Wakama Nigerian side defeated Opals of Australia 75-62 in their group opener at the Pierre Mauray Stadium in Lille,France on Monday.

    Amy Okonkwo ,an MVP honors at FIBA Women’s AfroBasket 2023, also played an impressive game at the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament 2024 in Antwerp was an inspiration to the team.

    Ezinne Kalu’s skills led D’Tigeress to this memorable success.
    She has not represented Nigeria since Tokyo 2020.

    Energetic Kalu was on fire with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals.

    Team Nigeria’s Ezinne squared up with
    Lauren Jackson on jersey number 25 of Australia for the ball during the Women’s Group Phase – B match between Nigeria and Australia on day three of the Olympic Games -Paris 2024 in France.

    Australia lost control of the ball 26 times in the game that handed Nigeria 26 points from turnovers.

    The team also had an impressive performance in Tokyo 2020.

    Ogba expressed confidence in team Nigeria, as D’Tigress are billed to play host country France on 1st August quarterfinal qualification.
