After securing gold at the Spanish Badminton International in Vitoria, Spain, Paralympic medallist and badminton star, Eniola Bolaji is determined to add another title to her collection as she competes in the second phase of the tournament in Toledo, Spain.

With her focus set on achieving back-to-back victories, she added, “My goal is to stand on the podium again. I won it last year, and I want to win it this year.”

Bolaji remains committed to excellence, stating, “I am working towards winning medals every time I compete. Right now, I am living my dream. My ultimate aim is to secure gold here in Toledo, qualify for the World Championships, and ultimately win the world title.”

Expressing her gratitude, Bolaji said, “Thanks to God for making this possible. I also appreciate the Badminton Federation and the National Sports Commission (NSC) for their unwavering support.”

Bolaji also took a moment to acknowledge those who have played a key role in her journey, saying, “I am deeply grateful to my mentors and coaches, especially my late coach, Rafiu Oyebanji Bello.”

With all her focus now set on another gold when she plays in the final on Sunday, and a place at the World Championships, Bolaji continues to inspire and elevate Nigeria’s presence in the global para-badminton scene.

The badminton contingent has attended three tournaments within four months under the leadership of Chairman Shehu Dikko and Director General Bukola Olopade at the National Sports Commission.

Through strategic investments, increased international exposure, and enhanced athlete development programs, the NSC is ensuring that Nigerian athletes receive the necessary support to compete and excel on the global stage.

The Commission’s proactive approach, which has already seen the badminton contingent participate in three international tournaments within four months, underscores its dedication to securing world championship qualifications, boosting rankings, and fostering a new era of sporting excellence in Nigeria.
