The Chairman of the Oyo State Newspaper Distributors and Vendors Union, Amb. Babatunde Abimbola was on Saturday, 7th March 2026, presented with a Distinguished Humanitarian Award during a special Ramadan lecture organized by EOB Live Radio Ibadan.

The honour according to the CEO of EOB live radio, Dr. Enitan Olusegun Bamidele was in recognition of Abimbola’s years of selfless service, compassion, and commitment to uplifting others within and beyond his professional community.

The holy month of Ramadan is widely regarded as a time for reflection, generosity, and service to humanity. It was therefore fitting that this recognition occurred during a Ramadan lecture, where the values of charity, humility, and community development are often emphasized.

The award according to EOB is served not only as a tribute to an individual but also as a reminder of the impact one person can have through consistent acts of kindness and leadership.

Over the years, Amb. Babatunde Abimbola popularly known as ‘Elebe’ has demonstrated exceptional dedication to the welfare of newspaper distributors and vendors across Oyo State. As chairman of the union, he has worked tirelessly to improve the working conditions, unity, and dignity of members who form a critical part of the information distribution network in society.

“His leadership has fostered cooperation among vendors, strengthened the union’s structure, and provided a voice for individuals who often work quietly behind the scenes to ensure that news reaches the public.”

Beyond his formal responsibilities, Amb. Abimbola has distinguished himself through humanitarian efforts that extend far beyond the newspaper distribution community. Known for his generosity and willingness to assist those in need, he has supported many vulnerable individuals, including colleagues facing financial hardship, young people seeking opportunities, and community members requiring urgent assistance. Amb. Babatunde Abimbola actions reflect a deep sense of empathy and responsibility toward society.
