    Oyo Roller Athletes Clinches First Position In Southwest Championship

         Oyo State Roller Sports team came first in the WOW Weekend Skating Championship held in Ondo State on the 27th and 28th May, 2023.

        At the championship competition, Oyo State team won a total number of 8 medals and secured the overall first position in the keenly contested championship which involved all south western states of Nigeria. The eight medals consist of 2 Gold, 3 Silver and 3 Bronze.

        Popoola Sadiq clinched 1 Gold medal during the speed slalom event while Oladele Morenikeji won 1 Gold Medal at the Endurance under 17 Race and Gideon Omotayo got 2 Sliver at the Endurance Race and Elimination Race respectively, while Habeeb Abdulazeez also clinched 1 Silver Medal.

        Subsequently, the tiro of Abdulazeez Habeeb, Bakare Toheeb and Junaid Olaitan won 3 bronze medals respectively in the three events they participated.

        The Acting General Manager of the Oyo State Sports Council, Tunde Ajibike who received the athletes on behalf of the Council formally presented the eight medals to the eight athletes for the outstanding and remarkable performances of these prodigies at the South West Roller Sports Championship Competition.

        While addressing the athletes, Ajibike encouraged them not to relent in their efforts to excel in subsequent national and international competitions stressing that they need to utilize their potential to achieve greater heights.
