The Chairman of the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC), Oyo State Chapter, Hon. Gbenga Opaleye, has joined sons and daughters of Ibadanland and distinguished Nigerians to congratulate the new Olubadan, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, on his 81st birthday and coronation scheduled for Friday, 26 September 2025.
While Oba Ladoja turned 81 on Thursday, he will be crowned Olubadan on Friday. Oba Ladoja was born in 1944 in Gambari village near Ibadan and became the 44th Olubadan of Ibadan land following the transition of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin on 7 July, 2025.

Through Olanrewaju Agiri, the Secretary of Oyo NBBofC, Opaleye sent a congratulatory message, characterizing Oba Ladoja as a natural leader who has continuously shown these traits in both traditional and political capacities.

“Oba Ladoja is not only an elder statesman but also a peace-loving bridge-builder whose reign as Olubadan promises to bring prosperity and unity to Ibadan and, by extension, the Yoruba race,” the Oyo professional boxing chief added.
He claimed that throughout his tenure as governor of Oyo State, Oba Ladoja, a renowned statesman and visionary leader, demonstrated a deep love and enthusiasm for sports, particularly boxing.

His commitment to fostering talent and supporting athletes has left an indelible mark on the society. As Olubadan, he is expected to continue championing these values, inspiring the younger generation to pursue excellence both in sports and in their personal endeavors.
