The Super Eagles of Nigeria took on Gabon’s Panthers in a thrilling World Cup playoff match at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.

The match was a nail-biter, with both teams creating chances, but it was Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen who stole the show.

The game was intense, with Gabon’s star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang putting Nigeria’s defense to test. However, the Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, made some crucial saves to keep the Gabonese team at bay.

Nigeria took the lead in the 78th minute through Akor Adams, who capitalized on a defensive mistake by Gabon. But just as it seemed Nigeria would cruise to victory, Mario Lemina equalized for Gabon in the 89th minute, sending the match into extra time .

It was in extra time that Osimhen took center stage, scoring two goals to secure Nigeria’s 4-1 win. The Galatasaray striker’s first goal came in the 102nd minute, when he controlled a long pass and beat the goalkeeper with a shot into the far corner. He scored again in the 110th minute, finishing off a well-taken pass from Benjamin Fredrick.

Other players who contributed to Nigeria’s win include Chidera Ejuke, who scored the team’s second goal in the 97th minute.

Gabon’s Aubameyang had a quiet game, failing to lead his team to victory despite being a constant threat.

The win secures Nigeria’s place in the playoff final against the winner of Cameroon and DR Congo, with the winner earning a spot in the inter-confederation playoffs.
