Bet9ja Foundation has allocated ₦40 million to support the 2026 edition of the Ex-Internationals Cup. This significant contribution highlights the increasing acknowledgment of the tournament as a distinctive platform that honors Nigeria’s football legacy while motivating future generations.

This generous act demonstrates the confidence and trust that the Chairman of Bet9ja, Honorable Kunle Soname, has in the organizers of this historic event. His faith in the vision behind the Ex-Internationals Cup has been crucial in making this partnership a reality.

The organizers stated that Bet9ja Foundation was impressed by the impact and organization of the inaugural edition, leading to their decision to back the second edition with ₦40 million naira. This enhanced support will provide a more extensive experience for players, fans, and stakeholders throughout the state and beyond.

Honorable Soname graciously accepted the proposal before recommending the initiative to the Bet9ja Foundation. There, the Executive Director, Gloria Ada Cuomo, and Marketing Manager, Omotola Oronti, embraced the vision of leveraging positive football history to establish a lasting legacy through the Bet9ja Foundation Ex-Internationals Cup.

Numerous productive discussions with Lukman were also key in reaching this achievement. These conversations ensured alignment on the tournament’s goals and a shared commitment to delivering a world-class event in 2026.

In response to this development, Hajji Gafar, Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association, expressed profound gratitude: “We are thankful for the tremendous support from Bet9ja Foundation and the personal interest demonstrated by Honorable Kunle Soname. This partnership provides us with the opportunity to honor our legends and utilize their stories to inspire young talents throughout Lagos.”

“Our profound gratitude goes to Honorable Kunle Soname, an icon and a tremendous blessing to Nigerian football. His numerous laudable interventions continue to speak directly to youth empowerment and the creation of sustainable opportunities and careers for many young Nigerians,” he added.

The 2026 Bet9ja Foundation Ex-Internationals Cup will bring together former Super Eagles stars and legends for a celebration of football, culture, and unity. With this support.

FC Nwosu are defending champions of the Ex International’s Cup.
