Desiree Ellis, the coach of the reigning African champions, Bayana Bayana of South Africa, has declared that her side’s 2024 Olympic Games final qualifying round fixture against Nigeria’s Super Falcons will be a “do or die” affair.

The reigning African champions qualified for the final round after a 1-0 victory against Tanzania on Tuesday night, to booked a date with rivals Nigeria.

Former African women’s Player of the Year, Thembi Kgatlana scored the winning goal in the second half to give South Africa a 4-0 aggregate win.

“It will be do or die (vs Nigeria),” Ellis declared after their game against Tanzania.

“We want to have an early camp, we will improve our chances when we prepare early and very well.”

South Africa and Nigeria will face each other in a two-legged tie between April 1-9, 2024.

The overall winner after both legs will be one of Africa’s representatives at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
