The Senator representing Edo North in the red chamber, and former governor of the state, Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole added colour to this year’s Okpekpe International 10km Road Race.

Comrade Oshiomhole’s dandle dance was the centre of attraction at the yearly event. The energetic, young at heart senator can surely beat men in their thirties in free style dandle dance now associated with him.

As expected, Kenyan Men and women dominated the race.

Kenyans ‘ Pingua Zakayo Edward 29.31, Isaac Kimpeuboi 29.36 and Alex Olotiptip Korio 29.36 came first, second and third in the Men’s race.

While in the Women’s category, Gladys Kwambuka – 33.05, Regina Wambai 33.38 and Sheila Cherotich 34.27 came first, second and third .

Nigerian athlete Francis Musa finished 30.46 to
dethrone defending champion, Isaac Sadjo who clocked 31.51 and Dung Elijah Emmanuel with a time of 32.02 to place second and third positions.

In the Female category
Patience Daylop Nwanywang retained the title she won last year with a time of 37.07 to beat Yilmunem Nicholas 37.23 and Blessing Shambo Solomon 37.28 to second and third positions .

Senator Oshiomhole popularly called ‘Osho Baba”
arrived at the finishing point with wild jubilation from thousands of people , fans in the crowd rent praises in the air, singing to celebrate
the former governor.

This year’ race had as always, members of international athletics bodies, well placed Nigerians
, traditional rulers in and around the state.

The 10km Gold label road race has placed Okpekpe town in Etsakor East local government area of Edo state in the global map, as results shows high rate of Google search in the last 10 years.

Okpekpe Gold label International 10km road race is a yearly marathon race put together by the CEO of Pamodzi Sports Marketing, Mr Mike Itemuagbor with the aim
of promoting sports development/ tourism in Nigeria.
