    Oborevwori bags Anglican Church merit award for service to humanity

    Oborevwori bags Anglican Church merit award for service to humanity

    Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Saturday, received award of excellence in recognition of his developmental strides, exemplary contributions to the church and dedicated service to humanity.

    Oborevwori received the award on Saturday, June 29th, 2024, at the first session of the Eight Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Esan held at St. David’s Anglican Church Irrua, Edo State.

    Governor Oborevwori who was represented by the State Commissioner for Works, (Rural, and Riverine Roads), Mr. Charles Aniagwu, during the ceremony, accepted the Episcopal Merit Award on behalf of the Governor.

    The accolade was bestowed by the Diocese of Esan Anglican Communion at the first session of the Eight Synod to acknowledge Governor Oborevwori’s significant and ongoing efforts towards the development and growth of the church both in Delta state and beyond.

    The award ceremony was a momentous occasion, highlighting Governor Oborevwori’s dedication to good governance and his commitment to serving both the church and the broader community.

    While appreciating the body of Christ for the recognition, Mr Aniagwu told the congregation that Governor Oborevwori’s leadership in Delta State has not only fostered infrastructural development but also promoted social and humanitarian causes, making a positive impact on the lives of many.

    Aniagwu said Governor Oborevwori’s recognition by the Esan Anglican Diocese underscores the importance of leadership that prioritizes community welfare and religious growth, setting a benchmark for other leaders to follow.

    Aniagwu added that Governor Oborevwori has made tremendous achievements in the area of infrastructural and human capital development in the state in the past one year.

    He stressed that the MORE Agenda of the governor for Deltans was still on course, adding that he would continue to take progessive steps towards advancing Delta to enviable heights in the comity of states in the country.

    The event at the Anglican Church in Irrua stands as a testament to his unwavering commitment to public service and the betterment of society.

    In his remarks, Bishop of Esan Diocese, Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev’d Gabriel O. Elabor, congratulated Governor Oborevwori on the award describing him as a leader dedicated to course of humanity.

    He said he was nominated for the award in honour of his outstanding contributions to the advancement of the gospel and the support for the less privileged in the society.
