A star studded “technically advanced” Coach Tosan Blankson tutored Rivers Angels FC on Wednesday 5th February 2025, defeated Delta Queens Football club at their “back yard” , Stephen keshi international stadium , Asaba by two goals to one .This defeat at the Delta Queens home base , was a sight for sore eyes , as they had lost their first match to Bayelsa Queens Fc at Yenagoa in week 1 and Adamawa Queens Fc in week 3.
The energy sapping encounter which was an opportunity for Delta Queens to rekindle winning hopes after losing to Adamawa Queens Fc at their away derby in week 3 at Gombe, actually sparked mixed feelings from the crowd of enthusiastic fans who had thronged the stadium to see their darling team clinch the vital three points at stake , in order to buoy their sagging points resume on the NWFL table.
The match which was as energy sapping and pulsating as any epic of sworn rivals , saw Rivers Angels attackers making frenetic incursions into the Delta Queens territory , much to the consternation of the enthusiastic home crowd routing for their darling side.
After the end of “hostilities” at the first half , scores stood at one goal apiece.
Mary Moses sealed victory for Rivers Angels in the early minutes of the second half which had superior technical depth of play from the Rivers girls.
The first half goals were scored by Favour Dagogo of Delta Queens and Patience Otubo of Rivers Angels in the 18th and 41st minutes , respectively.
