The National Sports Commission (NSC) is set to embark on an inspection visit to Enugu from October 21–24, 2025, in order to assess the level of facilities being put in place by Enugu state government in readiness for the “Coal City Games 2026”.
In a release made available on Monday by Kola Daniel, Senior Assistant (Media), to the Director General, National Sports Commission, stated that the inspection of facilities is a crucial step in ensuring standards, so as to make sure that the festival delivers on its promise of being a world-class sporting event that celebrates excellence, unity and talent development across Nigeria.
The inspection team will assess existing infrastructure, review progress on upgrades and engage with local stakeholders to guarantee that Enugu is ready to host athletes and fans from all over the country.
Meanwhile, the Commission has expressed appreciation to Enugu State Government for its commitment towards delivering a successful festival, noting that their dedication reflects the true spirit of partnership needed to elevate Nigeria’s sporting landscape.
The NSC reaffirmed its commitment to working with Enugu state to deliver a festival that will inspire the country and leave a lasting legacy.
Already, the state government is finalizing all areas that involve its contractual obligations with China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC), the contractors saddled with the responsibility of carrying out renovation work at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium and other designated centres earmarked for the festival.
