The management of Rangers Int’l FC of Enugu has described the enlisting of the club, as a champion in the campaign for strategic development and human rights, as a rare opportunity to partner with the United Nations (UN), in driving positive change, within Nigerian football, African Football, and beyond.

The General Manager & Chief Executive of Rangers, Amobi Ezeaku Esq. made this assertion, while reacting to Rangers Int’l FC being named as a strategic partner, to help in the actualization of the core mandate of one of the agencies of the UN, Football For The Goals (FFTG).

“This is a big achievement, as it is no mean feat to be so recognized by a global body like the United Nations. It goes a long way in straightening our resolve to make a positive impact in the lives of people through the game of football. With this, we have been further empowered to push on with our strategic plans and we are resolved to ensure that our franchise, Rangers, in addition to being NPFL Champions, becomes a top campaigner for sustainable development and human rights, driving positive change within the football community and beyond.” the GM asserted.

The partnership which was conveyed to Rangers Int’l FC, in a letter endorsed by Maher Nasser, the Director, Outreach Division, Department of Global Communications of the global body, also congratulated the Enugu based football club for its desires to be a member of the United Nations’ initiative, Football for the Goals, as the club commits to advocating for the achievement of and implementing policies aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

As a member of the FFTG, Rangers have been granted “unfated access to defined resources, content and specialized expertise within the United Nations (UN) and the opportunity to collaborate, through this initiative, in convening, discussions and events alongside the FFTG membership of fellow football stakeholders,” stated part of the document.

“As a member of FFTG, Rangers International Football Club, Enugu, now has access to defined resources, content and specialized expertise within the United Nations (UN) and the opportunity to collaborate, through this initiative, in convening, discussions and events alongside the FFTG membership of fellow football stakeholders, while carrying out strategic plans regarding community social impact”, the document stated in part.
