Technical Adviser, and Head Coach of Rangers International FC, Fidelis Ilechukwu has backed his team, to overcome their slow-start to the 2025-2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, without further delay.
Ilechukwu gave the assurance, in his post match reactions, after the Flying Antelopes, twice came from behind to earn a respectable 2-2 draw away to Wikki Tourists in a Matchday 6 fixture.
“We’re pleased with the result, though it does not reflect the exact effort we put in, in the past two weeks; but an away draw against Wikki [Tourists], coached by a seasoned veteran [Abdul Maikaba] isn’t a bad point”, Ilechukwu said.
Ilechukwu also showered praise on scorer of both goals for his side, Godwin Obaje, on his return to Bauchi and against his former club.
He also backed veteran striker to score more goals, and help dig Rangers out of the hole they currently found themselves in the NPFL.
“Yeah, Obaje is a proven striker that knows what to do with the ball, especially in the final third. Today he proved he is still one of the best poachers in the league. He has the capacity and quality to lift us up”, Ilechukwu asserted.
Speaking to _Talk Sports_ , a programme hosted by a local station in Enugu, the General Manager and CEO of Rangers, Barrister Amaobi Ezeaku backed Ilechukwu and the present crop of Rangers players, to quickly turnaround, the fortunes of the club.
Ezeaku who spoke from Egypt, while on a private visit, also admonished fans of the Club, to stick with their darling club at all times, and show greater understanding.
Rangers who are curgently placed 17th in the log, with a win and two draws (5 points), and a game in hand; are home to Katsina United at the Cathedral, the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, in Enugu, today, starting from 4pm.
