A new chapter unfolds for Nigerian boxing as Hon. Omonlei Imadu, MD/CEO of Yucateco Group, joins forces with Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, to sponsor the country’s contingent to the World Boxing Council (WBC) Green and Gold World Championships in Mexico

    – Dates: October 16-19, 2025
    – *Location:* Municipal Auditorium, Tijuana, Mexico
    – *Participating Countries:* Various nations worldwide, with Nigeria, Uganda, and Benin Republic representing Africa
    – *Nigerian Representation:* 6 boxers
    – *Team Size:* 12-man contingent, including boxers, coaches, technical director, nutritionists, and team manager

Hon. Imadu’s Yucateco Boxing Promotions, in partnership with “Hall Of Fame,” is spearheading the sponsorship effort. Imadu expressed gratitude to Minister Edun for his passion and support for boxing development in Nigeria. This initiative aims to expose Olympic-style boxers to the global stage, building on the success of the WBC-ABU Amateur Tournament held in Lagos last February.
