Nigeria Boxing Federation Elections: Laguda Floor Ajose, Emerge Technical Rep
In a transformative turn of events discribed by stakeholders as a new dawn for olympic style boxing in the country, enthusiasts of the the squared ropes sport Laguda Babatunde Abdulrahman and Tijani Morenikeji have emerged as the new Athletes and Technical Representatives in Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF) technical elections on Monday in Abuja.
The polls held at the Swimming Pool Facility, Package B, of the Moshood Abiola National stadium Abuja had delegates from several states in attendance.
Falilat- a national heroine with a decorated boxing resume triumphed over Oboraeh Kehinde Joy by 21 votes to 9. The victory aimed her the trust of her peers to champion the advancement of athletes at the Federations top table.
Laguda Abdulrahman, equally dominat, claimed the Technical Representatives’ position with 21 votes, leaving Daniel Faseso (7 votes) and Ajose Olusegun with a consolatory (2 votes).
In his post election remarks,
Laguda framed his victory as a watershed moment the squared ropes sport, promising sweeping reforms and renewed energy at the grassroots.
In his words: ” This elections is about andvance the cause of olympic style boxing in our belovednation”, he declared. ” In the next four years, boxing in Nigeria will not be the same this I can assure everyone.”
Laguda Babatunde also acknowledged the support of Hon. Omonlei Imadu, the CEO of Yucateco Boxing Promotions and he urged the stakeholders to vote the Yucateco boss as the southwest representative in the zonal elections.
