NFF President Gusau Backs Toptier Sports Management’s Investment in NNL, Promises Increased Visibility and Structural Reforms

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has expressed strong optimism over the growing partnership between the federation and Toptier Sports Management in transforming the Nigerian National League (NNL).

Speaking on the recent investment, Alhaji Gusau described the collaboration as a significant step toward repositioning Nigeria’s second-tier football league for greater professionalism, transparency, and commercial viability.

“I’m happy about our partnership with Toptier Sports Management. When they came to me, I gave them all the support needed and I see more prospects in this relationship. We are determined to put in a lot of effort to ensure it continues to progress, and we will give Toptier all the support required,” he said.

The NFF President emphasized that one of the major goals of the partnership is to enhance the visibility of the league through live broadcast of matches, an area that has historically limited the growth and reach of the NNL.

“We’re doing all we need to do to ensure matches are televised live on TV. This investment is just the beginning of many great things, and we’ll see even more improvements next season. They’re working hand-in-hand to change the entire structure, and this will enable greater transparency and visibility,” Gusau added.

A key highlight of the initiative is the commitment to broadcast the highly anticipated Super 4 tournament live from Ikenne, signaling a new era for the league in terms of media exposure and fan engagement.

“The Super 4 in Ikenne will be aired live, and we’re determined to build on this and achieve more,” he stated.

Toptier Sports Management’s involvement is widely seen as a strategic move to attract private sector investment into Nigerian football, improve league organization, and create a more competitive environment for clubs and players.

With efforts focused on restructuring, improved officiating standards, and broader media coverage, stakeholders believe the partnership will usher in the future of the NNL and strengthen the overall football ecosystem in Nigeria.
