    MWUN Wraps Up Outstation Dockworkers’ Elections, Members Praise Transparent Process

    The Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), led by Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, has concluded the Eastern Port District Elections, covering Delta Port and Julius Berger Districts in Warri, Delta State.

    The electoral process, hailed as free and fair by members, is part of a broader exercise encompassing Calabar, FLT, FOT Districts, INTELS, OMT Districts, Portharcourt Districts I and II, Bonny District, and Central Pool District. Union members expressed gratitude to Comrade Bunu for ensuring a transparent election.

    The principal elected executives are as follows:-

    1) Delta Port District Comrades Gabriel Koma – Chairman; 2) Charles Avwata – Vice-chairman; 3) Paul Bolomu – Secretary; 4) Monday Aiyanyor – Asst Secretary; 5) Laju Atune – Treasurer; Julius Norah – Special Female Rep; Sunday Sesi – NEC member; with other appointed officers numbering them to a total of 24.

    2) JULIUS BERGER DISTRICT

    Comrades Samson Pere – Chairman; 2) Edemayibo Ormireju – Vice-chairman; Kenneth Atagan – A
    Secretary; Jude Abilabor -Asst Secretary; Orugboh Edonmi – Treasurer;
    Anuchie Collins – NEC member; Ebuwa Isibor – Special Female Rep; with other appointed members numbering to 13.

    3) CALABAR DISTRICT

    Comrades Maurice Edet- Chairman; Uweh Ekpo- Vice Chairman; Joseph Rkpe- Secretary; Bassey Ekpeyong – Asst Secretary; Akpan Joshua – Treasurer; Bassey Asuquo Etim- NEC member; Margaret Ebiti Peter – Special Female Rep; with other appointed members numbering them to 15.

    4) CENTRAL POOL DISTRICT

    Comrades John Ebobo- Chairman; Amoo Bobola – Vice Chairman; Aniete Akpan – Secretary; Cyril Akpan – Asst Secretary; Godwin Acha – Treasurer; Stephen Dad- NEC member; Janet Okoro – Special Female Rep; with other appointed members numbering to 18.

    6) FLT DISTRICT

    Comrades Friday Ajilo – Chairman; Asitonka Tende- Vice Chairman; Gershon Abraham – Secretary; Patrick Chinda – Asst Secretary; Zobari Nnodee – Treasurer; Lawrence Kalaiyo- NEC member; Alou Ochu – Special Female Rep; with other appointed members numbering to 17.

    7) FOT DISTRICT

    Comrades Adams Majesty – Chairman; Jackson Osarobey – Vice Chairman; Dokuboye Bob Manuel – Secretary; Osarobey David – Asst Secretary; Timothy Egele – Treasurer; Prince David – NEC member; Modesta Uzoagba – Special Female Rep; with other appointed members numbering to 16.

    8) OMT DISTRICT

    Comrades Anyomi Joseph – Chairman; Fyne Anabs – Vice Chairman; Gift Iwaritaribi – Secretary; Timothy Egele – Asst Secretary; Cletus Enyia- Treasurer; Monday Penury NEC member; Blessing Nwankwo – Special Female Rep; with other appointed members numbering to 14.

    9)INTELS DISTRICT

    Ohaka Nwabueze – Chairman; Timothy Inetianbor – Vice Chairman; Freddie Jack – Secretary; Iheanyichukwu Emmanuel – Asst Secretary; Offong Amanam – Treasurer; Daniel Akpiri – NEC member; Pearl Owatogbe Egbe- Special Female Rep; with other appointed members numbering to 12.

    10) PORTHARCOURT DISTRICT ONE

    Comrades Gwuene Nkabono – Chairman; Chukwudi Asoguh – Vice Chairman; Abdulmalik Haruna – Secretary; Tamunokuro Dagogo – Asst Secretary; Iminabo Amachree – Treasurer; Tajudeen Owolabi – NEC member; Beatrice Ifeanyi – Special Female Rep; with other appointed members numbering to 16.

    11) PORTHARCOURT DISTRICT TWO

    Comrades Ebitenga Soye Perri – Chairman;
    Tonye Phillips – Vice Chairman; Oyika Amos – Secretary; Abiye Dokubo- Asst Secretary; Minabiye Dauphin – Treasurer; Isaac Evinson – NEC member; Precious Oghu – Special Female Rep; with other appointed members numbering to 16.

    12) BONNY DISTRICT

    Comrades Daddy Weeks – Chairman; Dappa Ajaladeg – Vice Chairman; Alex Onwuka – Secretary; Ekandem Michael Virtus – Asst Secretary; Cunningham Green – Treasurer; Beauty Don Pedro – Special Female Rep; Ezekiel Thomas – NEC member; with other appointed members numbering to 13.

    The President-General of the Union, Bunu has since congratulated all the elected executives and the appointed officers of the Districts. The Ijaw born fierce Labour Activist admonished all the officers to be of good conduct in performing their official duties always, reminding them that the time of playing double standards in the Union had since elapsed and that there’s a “New Sheriff” in the Union; therefore, every comrade, whether elected, appointed or just a member must play to the rules of the Constitution to avoid being sanctioned.

    He also promised the newly elected officials of the full support of the Union in all ramifications but would not hesitate to deal decisively with any earring ones where found wanting.

    The MWUN PG thanked all the executives of the Dockworkers Branch, particularly its articulate President, Comrade Agboola Bolaji, whose comportment during the election all through was commendable.

    Comrade Bunu also assures that the remaining District elections will follow suite as no contesting member would be shortchanged in any form or guise, but warned that the newly elected executives must go to work immediately after being sworn in accordingly.

    The newly elected Executives of the Districts thanked Comrade Bunu, and the leadership of the Union for their openness, fairness, and Justice in the entire process of all the Districts elections, praising the MWUN PG for his uprightness and straightforwardness in all the elections and appointments of officials, saying they won’t disappoint in their various designations as elected.
