The Maritme Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), under the aegis of Comrade Francis Bunu Abi mourns late fierce Revolutionary Activist, Comrade Abiodun Aremuu, whose demise occurred recently.

Comrade Aremuu would be recalled, was the founding Secretary of the Joint Action Front (JAF) and Chairman, Labour Service Coalition (LASCO), bodies where Aremuu showcased his Labour activism to the best of the Organized Labour Movements in Nigeria; spitting his fire and brimstones activism, which he exhibited during his heyday, that solidified the presence of the contemporary labour movements in Nigeria, across Africa at large and the global world. He was also a pioneer convener of the Action For Democracy (ADC) a political movement; which he was a key figure; and great contributor.

He was an embodiment of “Labour”, a born labour warrior, no doubt; hence, his labour ideology and philosophy would definitely remain indelible in the sands of time for generations yet unborn.

The Nigerian labour community and the global world will fondly miss this Nigerian but Kwara born talented activist for his radicalism and realism in positioning and repositioning the organized labour in Nigeria. Aremuu instincts had never failed him in labour matters, hence, the Maritme Workers Union of Nigeria recognizes him as the embodiment of labour put together.

The foremost Maritme Labour leader in Nigeria, Comrade Bunu describes Comrade Aremuu as one distinguished labour technocrat, whose ideals on coordinating labour movements will be difficult to replace; the vacuum Aremuu has created for us in the labour industry would forever will live with us.

The Veteran Sailor and Astute Administrator, further says that the Maritme Workers Union of Nigeria will continue to remember the passage of the labour icon, given his impeccable input to the labour movement in Nigeria.

The PG of MWUN and his national executives pray that the Almighty God grant him eternal rest in peace; while praying that the good Lord also grant his immediate and extend families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, while sending his heart felt condolences to the families of Comrade Aremuu; the government of Kwara State, and the generality of the good people of Kwara.
