Madrid Eye Leipzig Forward As Asensio’s Replacement

RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo ends his ongoing deal in 2024 and the 25-year-old seems to be not interested in extending his stay with the German team.

This makes the Spanish international a compelling option for several suitors to consider as Leipzig will be forced to sell him at a lower price.

This is where Real Madrid chip in. As reported by Aritz Gabilondo while writing for Diario AS, the Los Blancos are one of the few top teams who are interested in his acquisition.

Now, Leipzig’s stance is pretty clear regarding Olmo; they do not want to part ways with the midfielder. However, towards the end of the season, they might be forced to listen to offers or they will be at risk of losing him for free in 2024.

So far the team from German Bundesliga has not determined a price tag but Gabilondo says that if he is to move this summer, anywhere between €30 million and €40 million will do the trick for the suitor.

As far as Madrid are concerned, they are considering him as a reasonable alternative if a certain Marco Asensio ends up leaving. Although the 27-year-old is expected to renew with the team, there is still no official word on it at the moment.

Furthermore, given his form, he is likely to overtake players like Eden Hazard in the pecking order and he would settle really well alongside the likes of Rodrygo in the team.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are said to be in the race too, although their approach is a little bit different. Unlike Madrid and Bayern, they want the player to wait until 2024 so that they can acquire him for free.

Given the situation at hand, everything is aligning perfectly well for the 25-year-old. He is at the peak of his career, the price is pretty much affordable and he is certainly ready to take the leap in his career.
