Liverpool’s Struggles Continue as Leeds United Snatch 3-3 Draw in Thrilling Match

Ao Tanaka came off the bench to grab a stoppage-time equaliser as Leeds United hit back from two down to rescue a 3-3 draw in a roller-coaster encounter at home to Liverpool.
The visitors dominated the first half without reward but stormed into a 2-0 advantage when Hugo Ekitike netted two goals in two minutes following the restart.

The champions appeared to be cruising but a rash challenge from Ibrahima Konate led to a penalty that former Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin dispatched with 17 minutes remaining.

The hosts then levelled two minutes later through Anton Stach before Dominik Szoboszlai put The Reds back in the driving seat with a composed finish 10 minutes from the end.
However, substitute Tanaka was left unmarked at the back post to rescue a point six minutes into added time and leave the heat on Reds boss Arne Slot.
The result means Liverpool sit in eighth spot, two points off Chelsea in fourth. Leeds move three points clear of the drop zone and are up to 16th, above Nottingham Forest on goal difference.

Next up, Liverpool travel to Internazionale in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night before hosting Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday. Leeds visit Brentford on Sunday.

In addition to those fixtures, the match showcased Leeds’ relentless resilience and Liverpool’s ongoing defensive frailties — themes reflected in the numbers: Slot’s side finished with more possession and shots but conceded three goals from four attempts on target, while Leeds’ substitutes made a decisive impact. The atmosphere at Elland Road was electric throughout, and the performance will give the home side renewed belief in their survival fight even as Liverpool continue to search for consistency under their new boss.
