The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) bid a heartfelt farewell to Deputy Comptroller-General (DCG) Dera Nnadi, who retired on March 3, 2026, after a distinguished career marked by dedication, professionalism, and institutional development.
The retirement ceremony, held at the Service Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, coincided with DCG Nnadi’s 60th birthday, making it a double celebration of his life and service.
Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, led the Service in paying tribute to DCG Nnadi, describing him as an exemplary officer who significantly strengthened the NCS through his leadership, discipline, and commitment to duty. Adeniyi highlighted DCG Nnadi’s contributions to revenue generation, trade facilitation, and the Service’s operational effectiveness, noting that his career embodied the core ideals of the Nigeria Customs Service.
“DCG Nnadi’s retirement is a moment of celebration and reflection, an opportunity to thank Almighty God for the grace that sustained him throughout his years of service,” the CGC said. He also expressed confidence that DCG Nnadi would continue to contribute to national development through academic and professional engagements.
Members of the Service’s management team praised DCG Nnadi’s leadership qualities, integrity, and mentorship, describing him as a dependable leader who guided and encouraged younger personnel while strengthening the Service’s institutional capacity.
In his response, DCG Dera Nnadi (Rtd) expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General, management team, officers, and men of the Service for their support and cooperation throughout his career, calling his years in the NCS a fulfilling journey of growth, learning, and service to the nation.
The ceremony featured the presentation of awards, gift items, and commemorative photographs in honour of the distinguished officer.
