    Late Goals Decide Winners of Abaji F’Ball Council U17 & U15 Vacation Tourneys

    Late Goals Decide Winners of Abaji F’Ball Council U17 & U15 Vacation Tourneys

    The 2024 edition of the Abaji Football Council Under 15 and Under 17, Vacation tournaments, ended on Monday with Future Planners FC and Kamsas FC crowned champions, in their respective categories.

    Abubakar Umar was the star of the Under 17 final, after his goal in the 79th minute, gave Future Planners FC a deserved 1-0 victory over Emirates Stars FC, at the Government Science Secondary School Abaji, football arena.

    Likewise, Muhammad Sanni got the solitary goal, six minutes from time, as Kamsas FC of edged Amicable FC of 1-0 to be crowned winners of the Under-15 final, played earlier, at the same venue.

    Both finals were graced by the immediate past Head Coach of the national Under-15 Boys team (Future Eagles), Usman Haruna Ilerika, after whom this year’s Under-17 competition was named; and his successor Patrick Bassey, in whose honour the Under-15 tournament was organized; whilst Ijeoma Chuks, represented the Chairman FCT FA,. Alhaji Abba Mouktar.

    In addition to the trophies and medals given to the teams, the organizers rewarded individual players who were outstanding with the following awards:

    – Abubakar Umar of Future Planners FC, won the top scorer award with 4 goals in 5 matches

    – Muhammad Jibrin of Future Planners FC, won the golden glove award, for the best goalkeeper. He didn’t concede a goal throughout the tournament.

    – Philip Alo of Emirate Stars FC, who won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.

    The two tournaments, which are now done and dusted, dufftailed to a Coaching Seminar for grassroots coaches in Abaji Area Council, of the FCT; organized by the Yusuf Musa led Abaji Football Council, and with Coaches Ilerika and Patrick Bassey as the resource persons.
