    Kida’s Unwavering Support: A Key Factor in D’Tigress’ Quest for History

    As the clock ticks down to the highly anticipated semi-final clash between D’Tigress and Senegal at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket, Engineer Ahmed Musa Kida, President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) and Chairman of NNPC Plc, made a stirring appearance in Abidjan.

    At the Palais des Sports de Treichville will be abuzz with excitement as D’Tigress, Africa’s reigning queens, take to the court to extend their historic dominance and inch closer to an unprecedented fifth consecutive AfroBasket title.

    For eight transformative years, Engineer Musa Kida has been the driving force behind Nigerian basketball, going above and beyond his role as federation president. His leadership has been instrumental in fueling D’Tigress’ meteoric rise, from funding international campaigns to standing courtside during pivotal matches.

    Under his watch, Nigeria has achieved remarkable success, including defeating Canada at the Paris 2024 Olympics and becoming the first African team to reach the women’s basketball quarterfinals at the Games.

    Musa Kida’s commitment to Nigerian basketball is unwavering, and his presence in Abidjan is a testament to his dedication. As D’Tigress prepare to face Senegal, Musa Kida’s support will undoubtedly be a morale boost for the team.

    D’Tigress have been unbeaten in 26 straight AfroBasket games, rewriting the narrative of African women’s basketball.

This victory over Cameroon has secured a semi-final berth against either Senegal,  taking them a step closer to record fifth straight title and qualification for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.

With his support, D’Tigress are poised to make history once again, and their fans will be cheering them on every step of the way.
