Karren Brady has stepped down as vice-chair of West Ham United after 16 years, bringing an end to a long and often debated spell at the club.
Brady joined the board in 2010 following the takeover led by David Sullivan and David Gold. During her tenure, she played a central role in the club’s commercial growth and major structural changes.

One of her most notable contributions was overseeing the move from Upton Park to the larger London Stadium in 2016, increasing capacity to about 60,000. While the move boosted revenue and visibility, it also drew criticism from sections of the fanbase over atmosphere, pricing, and identity.

In a farewell statement, Brady described her time at the club as an honour, highlighting the club’s victory in the UEFA Europa Conference League as a personal high point.
Despite off-field progress, her time at West Ham was not without controversy, with supporters often voicing concerns about ticket costs and the club’s direction after European success.

Her departure comes at a tense moment, with West Ham sitting 17th in the league table, just above the relegation zone and narrowly ahead of Tottenham Hotspur.
