Announced by Winnipeg Jets head coach Scott Arniel that captain Adam Lowry is week-to-week with an upper-body injury, according to Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press.
“It’s a big loss,” Arniel said.
The injury was due to Monday’s loss to Utah Hockey Club at the first period of the match. The 31-year-old has registered 26 points in 48 games this season and has recently been occupying Winnipeg’s second-line center role.
Vladislav Namestnikov was substituted to cover Lowry’s spot between Nikolaj Ehlers and Gabe Vilardi in practice Wednesday, per McIntyre.
The Jets have collected only four wins in their past 10 games. Winnipeg currently holds a five-point lead atop the Central Division.
Lowly s injury seems to down the mental strength of the team and hopes diminishes as his recovery is becoming farther than expected .
