Jasmine stood out unique as French Open witnesses some surprising results on a damp day at Roland Garros. Italian players Jasmine Paolini and Lorenzo Musetti advanced to the third round with stirring victories. Paolini brushed aside Ajla Tomljanovic 6-3, 6-3, while Musetti dismantled Daniel Galan 6-4, 6-0, 6-4.

Matteo Gigante kept the Italian tricolour flying high by sending former finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas tumbling out of the tournament, winning 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4. Defending champions Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek endured minor scares but ultimately won their matches. Alcaraz beat Fabian Marozsan 6-1, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, while Swiatek dominated Emma Raducanu 6-1, 6-2.

Other notable wins included Aryna Sabalenka coming back from a slow start to beat Jil Teichmann 6-3, 6-1 and Elena Rybakina winning 6-3, 6-3 against Iva Jovic. Casper Ruud’s bid for a maiden major title was derailed by Nuno Borges 2-6, 6-4, 6-1, 6-0. The tournament continues with exciting matches ahead.
