Jagaban Cup Is Synonymous With Youth Development, Empowerment – Gafar

    BY RAYMOND NWADUBA

The Convener of the respectable annual Jagaban Cup, Hajj Gafar Liameed has described the tournament as being synonymous with youth development and empowerment.
While speaking to the media after the pulsating, eye -catching but intriguing encounters in Day 1 of the tournament, the Lagos state Football Association (LSFA) boss, stated that the last two editions produced six players that were transferred to different teams in Europe where they are now living their football dreams.
According to the 36 Lion FC proprietor, Ebuka Enyeazu, Uchenna Emmanuel Sparta Prague, Abdul Kareem Peter, Bohemians, Vincent Akinola, Spain were some of the talents exported though this laudable platform.
Hajj Gafar emphasized that the competition speaks volume of the renewed hope mantra of our great President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He praised Tinubu to have done what no other president has done saying that it’s not because he’s president as he has been supporting the youths even before he became president.
The quintessential Hajj Gafar said: “Jagaban Cup is here to stay”, stating that the founders of Real Madrid, Manchester United or Arsenal are not alive but their team has outlived them the way Jagaban cup would outlive them even long after they have gone.
In the highly contested but interesting opening fixture, 36 Lion FC defeated city rivals Ikorodu City 2-0. FC Bethel Sporting lost their slim lone goal advantage to finish 1-1 with Broadcity FC.
In other matches also played Monday, SGFC Athletics defeated Ijebu United 3-2 in a five – goal thriller while Dino Sporting Club also lost by 1-3 to Imperial FC.
Interestingly, more exciting matches continue Tuesday in Day 2 of the tournament beginning from 7.am.
