Israel has ordered northern Gaza to evacuate within 24 hours and they are running out of time. Most civilians are staying back home because they have no where else to go. In the south, the hospitals are overcrowded and Israel’s missiles and Airstrikes keeps hitting them.
The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) issued their evacuation notice at midnight, saying areas near Gaza City had been used for Hamas’ “military operations”.
They called on the region’s 1.1 million civilians to head south but UN aid chief Martin Griffiths wrote on social media: “The noose around the civilian population in Gaza is tightening. How are 1.1 million people supposed to move across a densely populated warzone in less than 24 hours?”
Hamas stood against the evacuation and told it’s people to remain at home and “stand firm in the face of this disgusting psychological war”.
The World Health Organisation warned the forced evacuation of badly injured hospital patients amounted to a “death sentence” for some. It said hospital corridors were “overflowing”.
Gaza’s health ministry says 1,799 Palestinians have been killed in the bombardment.
