Over 2,000 people have been killed on both sides as Israel’s military says it is preparing for a potential ground invasion of Gaza.
Israel hit the Gaza Strip with airstrikes and Hamas fired rockets toward Tel Aviv as the war reached Day 6.
The Israeli military said it was preparing for a potential ground assault on Gaza after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu formed a wartime unity Cabinet and promised to “crush and destroy” Hamas.
After Hamas’ terrorist attack Saturday, Israeli airstrikes have reduced entire neighborhoods in Gaza, including hospitals, to soot. The remaining clinics and emergency units have been operating without power and supplies.
A growing crisis in Gaza has displaced more than 330,000 people as essential amenities have been exhausted. Israel has said its “complete siege” will not be lifted until Hamas releases the 100 to 150 Israelis estimated to have been taken hostage.
At least 1,300 Israelis — including 222 soldiers — have been killed and more than 3,300 have been injured. In Gaza, at least 1,500 people have been killed and more than 6,200 have been injured.
So far, at least 27 US citizens have been killed in the Israel- Hamas war.
