Stakeholders of Nigeria Cricket, have celebrated what has been dubbed one of the proudest moments of cricket in the country, courtesy of the exploits of Nigeria’s Yellow-Greens right-arm medium-fast bowling sensation Peter Aho.
Aho is in the news for the right reasons, after he made a historic move, that saw him officially joined the Dubai Capitals, for Season 4 of the International League T20.
Aho, who as at 2021 held a Guinness World Record, for taking six wickets for five runs in 3.4 overs, which was then the best ever bowling figures in a T20 International match in the world, will be lining up for the Dubai Capitals, under the leadership of Sri Lanka’s superstar Dasun Shanaka, as the defending champions gear up for another electrifying season!
The right-arm medium-fast bowling sensation, spoke exclusively to _SportsDay_ from Dubai, how he’s been able to settle down, and the challenge ahead.
“The move has been incredibly smooth, to be very honest. The management I met here at Dubai Capitals has been very welcoming, making it much easier for me to settle-in, and from the top-notch facilities and warm weather, it has been a fantastic experience so far. I’m truly excited to have such an opportunity to play in a highly competitive league like the ILT20. It’s a very good stage for every cricketer in the world”, he asserted.
According to him , it’s also a chance for me to test my skills and engage some of the best players around the world.
“It’s a platform for me to learn, to grow and showcase my talent at the global stage, so their is also an opportunity that it can open other doors, it is crucial in my quest to become a better cricketer. I’m focused on making this opportunity count, to make my family, and my country [Nigeria] proud”.
Put simply, Peter Aho as at 2021 had the best bowling figures in a match, a record he achieved at the bilateral tournament between Nigeria and Sierra Leone, played at the UNILAG cricket oval, in Lagos; but he has now dropped to No. 3 after two other bowlers posted better figures.
