Winterberg (RWH) Bobsleigh pilot Boris Vain has celebrated the best World Championship result for bobsleigh sport in Monaco since 20 years at the 2024 BMW IBSF World Championships. Together with push athlete Antoine Riou, Vain finished seventh in the 2-man bobsleigh.

In 2004, Patrice Servelle/Sébastien Gattuso finished 4th at the 2-man Bobsleigh World Championships in Königssee (GER).

As push athlete for Rudi Rinaldi, Boris Vain achieved the best Olympic result for Monaco: the Monegasques finished sixth at the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing.

Bobsleigh has played a major role in Monaco for decades: Prince Albert II of Monaco took part in five Winter Olympic Games as a bobsleigh pilot under the name Albert Grimaldi between 1988 and 2002: Calgary (CAN), Albertville (FRA), Lillehammer (NOR), Nagano (JPN) and Salt Lake City (USA). In 1988, 1994 and 2002 he carried the flag for his nation.

Pilot Boris Vain has also qualified to compete at BMW ISBF World Championships in 4-man bobsleigh in Winterberg (March 2-3, 2024). ©RWH2024
