As part of its continued efforts to develop Olympic style boxing in the country. Yucateco Boxing Promotions, in collaboration with the Ogun State Boxing Association, is set to stage yet another edition of the Yucateco Showdown Series.
The highly anticipated event aimed at breeding boxing talents in Ogun State and the entire southwest region will take center stage on Sunday, September 14th, at the Oni-Meko Hall, Imeko Town, Ogun State.
With the event expected to spot outstanding talents across all the weight categories.Hostilities will get on the way in the male 50kg bout between Taiwo Bakare and Rabiu Joseph. Oyakojo Quayum will lock-horns against Olaiya Michael in a 55kg contest, while David Akintola will file out against Taofeek Ayangbayi in the male 75kg showdown. In the female category, Yucateco Pan-African champion Precious Anine will square up against Barakat Akanni in their 53kg brawl. The fight card boasts seven outstanding contests and several other rudimentary bouts for the newcomers.
The Ogun State Commissioner for Sports Development Hon. Wasiu Isiaka will lead other dignitaries in attendance as the special guest of honor.
For the CEO of Yucateco Boxing Promotions Hon. Omonlei Imadu, the objective is to create the needed platform to advance the development of boxers in the southwest.

The initiator of the first-ever amateur boxing league in Africa further reaffirms his commitment to create a sustainable boxing culture in the southwest.
” The Showdown Series is just one of the several programs we have in place to revamp boxing in the country, in the coming weeks we shall officially unveil an inter LGA championship across all the Local Government Area in the southwest, as well as our Boxing ln Schools initiative aimed at introducing more pupils to the rudimentary of the Sports”. Imadu said.
