Anambra State Football Association Chairman, General Chikelue Iloenyosi, is expected back in Nigeria following a successful month-long working visit to the United Kingdom where he held strategic engagements with Anambra indigenes in the diaspora on the future of football development in the state.

The former Nigerian international who is known for his passionate commitment to grassroots football, used the trip to consult widely with stakeholders, investors, sports enthusiasts and members of the Anambra community abroad on fresh ideas capable of repositioning football in the state.

Discussions held during the visit centered on youth football development, grassroots talent discovery, infrastructure improvement, coaching education and possible partnerships that could help raise the standard of the game in Anambra State.

Observers believe the overseas consultations will open new opportunities for football growth in the state, especially at a time when several football administrators across Nigeria are seeking international collaborations to improve local football structures.

Meanwhile, Iloenyosi has expressed deep sorrow over the death of veteran broadcaster, Richard Asiegbu Snr, whose passing was reported at the weekend after a brief illness.

In a condolence message made available by his media aide, the former Super Eagles defender described the death of the respected media personality as painful and a huge loss to both the broadcasting industry and humanity.

According to him, the late broadcaster lived an impactful life dedicated to service and the advancement of society.

“Papa Asiegbu was an enigma who lived a life that helped to shape and improve humanity by all standards. But who can truly fill the vacuum he has left behind? He will greatly be missed,” Iloenyosi stated.

He further prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved family, urging them to take solace in God during the difficult period.

The death of Richard Asiegbu Snr has continued to attract tributes from media practitioners, associates and admirers who remember him for his contributions to broadcasting and mentorship within the profession.
