Ikorodu City forced visiting Bayelsa United to a 1-all draw at the Mobolaji Johnson
Arena, in Onikan, Lagos, for a share of the points in one of the Day-27 fixtures of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League, played on Sunday, across the country.

The point earned by Ikorodu City, ensured that the Oga Boys clinged to the NPFL top spot, with 45 points, a point clear of Rangers International FC of Enugu, whose brave fight earned them a goalless draw, away to Katsina United, in the North West.

In 3rd spot is Nasarawa United, who completed a season’s double, when edging Bendel Insurance of Benin, 1-0 in Lafia, to also take their haul to 44 points; one point better than the duo of Rivers United and Abia Warriors, as the top 5 sides in the log, are now separated by just 2 points.

Rivers United dropped points in consecutive matches, after forcing Enyimba International of Aba to a 1-1 draw in Port Harcourt; while Abia Warriors added to the misery of Kwara United, by edging the Afonja Warriors 1-Nil in Umuahia.

Tied on 38 points are the trio of Insurance, Katsina United and Shooting Stars SC, who were roundly beaten 4-1 in Jos, by a Plateau United side, now coached by a former gaffer of the Oluyole Warriors, Olugbenga Ohunbote.

In other results, reigning champions, Remo Stars who got beaten 2-1 in Jos by Wikki Tourists of Bauchi, have now reclined to 20th in the log, after Kun Khalifat climed-up the table to 19th, with a comfortable 2-0 defeat of Niger Tornadoes of Minna, in Owerri; just as Kano Pillars thrashed El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri 3-0 at the Sani Abacha Stadium, in Kofarmata, Kano to float on the drop zone, for the first time, in a long while.

Saturday’s other match at the a University ground in Ozoro, saw Warri Wolves and fellow promoted side, Barau FC of Kano grind out a barren draw.
