Icardi Among Options To Replace Tammy Abraham At Roma

Former Inter captain Mauro Icardi is reported to be among Roma‘s options to replace the injured Tammy Abraham, who is expected to return to action in 2024.

The England international suffered a knee injury during Roma’s final game of the season against Spezia on Sunday. He will undergo surgery and according to Gazzetta, he won’t return to action before the New Year.

Roma were ready to listen to offers for the ex-Chelsea striker, but his injury means Tammy will remain in the capital for one more season.

The Giallorossi have already met with Spezia, asking for their striker Mbala Nzola, but according to Gazzetta, Icardi is also an option for the Giallorossi.

The Argentinean striker will return to PSG after his loan spell at Galatasaray but is not expected to remain in France.

Icardi has scored 23 goals in 26 appearances this season and has a €9m contract in Paris which the Giallorossi cannot match.

However, Roma and PSG Presidents Dan Friedkin and Nasser Al-Khelaifi are on good terms and the two clubs have already completed several deals across the last few years. The most recent one was Georginio Wijnaldum, who joined the Giallorossi on loan last summer.
