GTI Set To Unveil New NPFL Sponsor, TV Rights Deal -Ine
BY RAYMOND NWADUBA
With a few days to the kick off of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, Executive Director GTI Asset Management and Trust Limited, Nelson Ine, has revealed exclusively plans by the group to unveil sponsors for the league and a lucrative television broadcast rights deal which he said is almost finalized.
Ine, who was speaking on the backdrop of the plans by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) strategic partners, GTI for the new season, maintained that there won’t be take off grants for the 20 NPFL clubs this season, stating that the firm did that in the last two seasons to stimulate the league while also making plans to bring in corporate sponsors for the league.
Recall that NPFL clubs got N200m which is N10m each for the 20 teams in the league in the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 seasons respectively but Ine however disclosed that with the new sponsors and TV rights deal teams will have good sums as their own share.
“I’m happy to announce to you that a sponsor and TV rights deal is almost ready for the season.
“We’re just in the concluding part as the organisations requested for more time to have everything sorted out, he noted.
Ine further stated that GTI will not give take off grants to teams this season since the league now has sponsors and GTI only did that in the past to fill the gap.
“With the sponsors and TV rights arrangement teams will have a share of the money which puts money in their hands. GTI was only doing that since there were no sponsors”, he concluded.
