Coach Bartholomew David was over the weekend, returned as Chairman of the FCT Chapter of the Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA), at the 2025 elective Congress, held on Saturday.
Though unopposed, Coach Bartholomew David needed to satisfy the requirement of securing 75% of the votes cast, to emerge victorious; and he did so convincingly by garnering 22 out of 22 votes, to earn a fresh four-year mandate to lead the charpter.
However, the election dealt a surprising blow to several incumbent officials who also contested unopposed but failed to get the same 75% threshold required.
Most notably, National Under-20 Women’s Assistant Coach, Mansur Abdullahi who was voted out as First Vice Chairman; as he could only Secure just 6 out of 22 votes.
Similarly, Coaches Jibril Yusuf Kenny and Mike Attah, also lost their re-election bids, despite being the sole candidates for the positions.
Coach Kenny, who currently serves as the Leader of the Abuja Municipal Coaches Council, lost his position after failing to muster the required 75% of votes cast.
In contrast, Coaches Mary Godspower and Isah Mohammed emerged victorious, in very competitive contests for the positions of Welfare Officer and Assistant Secretary.
Coaches Paul Tanko, Adanna Nwaneri Nna, and Hajia Bilikis Tijani were also re-elected as Auditor, Welfare Officer, and Treasurer.
In his acceptance speech, the reelected Chairman, David thanked the members for their confidence and urged the newly elected executives to rededicate themselves to service.
The peaceful and orderly polls were conducted by AA panel headed by Samuel Abimbola, a former Chairman of the FCT Chapter of Nigeria Coaches Association.
