Enyimba’s Obinna Almost Certain To Emerge NPFL Top Scorer

With just one game to end the regular season of the 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) abridged league season, the race for the golden boot award seems to be a one-horse race with Enyimba FC’s striker Emeka Obioma leading the pack for the highest goal scorer award.

The former Abia Warriors and Heartland striker netted three goals on match day 17 as Enyimba FC recorded their biggest win of the season by thrashing visiting Gombe United by five goals to nil to take his tally this season to 14 goals

Robert Mizo of Bayelsa United has also done so well for the NPFL new boys with his nine goals this season, all his nine goals for the “Restoration boys” have come from open play and no spot-kick converted.

After dominating all the headlines in the first half of the season due to his goal-scoring form, Imade Osarenkhoe of Bendel Insurance seems to have forgotten how to score again since the second half of the season started. He’s stuck on eight goals, Imade’s poor run of form in the second stanza could also be largely due to the overall performance of his club which has recorded just one win in the second half of the league.
